The Dòchas Way
Every visit belongs to the client
Our culture, not a single policy, brought together across everyday care.
Person-centred
No two people are the same, so care is never delivered as though they are. We take time to understand routines, preferences, communication style, and what outcomes matter most.
Dignity
Speaking respectfully, explaining what we're doing before we do it, protecting privacy, and never forgetting that needing help doesn't make someone less entitled to choice or control.
Independence
Support is offered only where it's needed, walking alongside rather than taking over, wherever it's safe and appropriate.
Choice and Control
We listen, explain, and respect informed decisions, including where a person's choice involves a level of risk we help them understand.
Compassion
Paying attention. Noticing when something has changed. Understanding that a "routine" task can feel deeply personal to the person receiving it.
Safety
Following care plans, risk assessments and moving & handling guidance, and encouraging staff to stop and ask if something doesn't feel right.
Professionalism
Confidentiality, honesty, reliable attendance, accurate records, and speaking up when something is wrong, because care happens inside people's private homes.
