About Us

Quality and Regulation

Compassion must be supported by good governance. Dòchas works within the legal, professional and regulatory framework that applies to care services in Scotland.

What our policies and procedures cover+

Adult support & protection, health & safety, medication, infection prevention & control, complaints, confidentiality & data protection, equality & inclusion, professional conduct, whistleblowing, incident reporting, care planning, risk assessment, staff training, and quality assurance.

We review our practice, learn from incidents and feedback, and make changes where improvements are needed.

Our relationship with regulation+

Dòchas operates within Scotland's regulated health and social care environment. Our service is expected to work in line with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including the principles within Scotland's Health and Social Care Standards: My Support, My Life.

Care staff are also expected to meet the registration and professional requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We don't view regulation as a box-ticking exercise, the standards exist because people receiving care deserve services that are safe, respectful, well-led and accountable.
